Become an Official

Officiating is a fun and exciting way to become involved with lacrosse

It's also a great way to keep fit, and you will have the best view of the action! You can earn some extra money while giving back to the sport and your club.

How to get started

Receive your accreditation by achieving a score of at least 80% on the relevant online test. The full list of online tests is available towards the bottom of this page.

Accreditation lasts for one year from March to March. This is in line with VLO (Victorian Lacrosse Officials) officiating practices.

Please note for the Men's exam, World Lacrosse timings are on the exam. Lacrosse Victoria will keep the time constraints that were in place in 2019. Please note that for the Senior Men's Online Test the timings are for LA (Lacrosse Australia) competitions and not Victoria.

Also LA have instituted a policy for annual accreditation. Starting in 2020 Lacrosse Victoria will follow this policy as well.

Payment information

This year referees who officiate Women's State League games will be paid with one installment in July following a shortened season.

For all other competitions, officials will be paid in three monthly installments rather than one large end of year payment. These installments will occur in June, August and October.

All payments will be made based on the level of accreditation that you have achieved. If you have passed the U14 Boys Online test then you will only be paid for U14 or U12 Boys games and not U16 or higher.

Test your knowledge before you take the test

In 2021 LV and VLO developed a Rules Familiarisation Quiz for the Senior Men's rules (Senior Women's is in development). No accreditation is gained by completing the 15 minute quiz, but it is a great resource to quickly test your knowledge of basic rules and interpretations.
