U’10s Take Centre Field in Fun-Filled Lacrosse Day

On Sunday, June 2nd, 2025, PJ Lynch Reserve – home of the Newport Lacrosse Club – was buzzing with energy as six junior teams gathered for a fun-filled morning of lacrosse. The event, which began at 9:00 AM, aimed to introduce young players to the sport in a relaxed and encouraging environment.

The teams came from five different clubs: Footscray, two Wyndham teams, Williamstown Women’s Lacrosse Club, MCC, Camberwell. The day featured five 8-minute games, each separated by a 5-minute break to keep the pace light and enjoyable.

With three officials on hand to guide the play and ensure safety, the focus was not on winning or losing. In fact, no scores were kept. Instead, the emphasis was on helping the kids better understand the game and gain confidence on the field.

Parents and spectators enjoyed the spirited play, and the young athletes walked away with smiles and a better grasp of lacrosse fundamentals. It was a successful day of sport, learning, and community building.
