Pride Month 2026
94% of LGBTQI+ youth avoid team sports due to fear of discrimination.
That figure comes from the LGBTQI+ Participation in Sport Survey 2021, conducted by Parindie Australia. It hasn't improved much since. And it's worth sitting with for a moment, because lacrosse is a sport that depends on finding and keeping players.

June is Pride Month, and on 20 and 21 June, clubs across Victoria have the opportunity to participate in Pride Round. It is a simple gesture: showing up, playing, and making it visible that this sport is for everyone.
Lacrosse Victoria recognises Pride Month because inclusion isn't a trend. It's the baseline. A player shouldn't have to wonder whether they're welcome before they even pick up a stick.
Homophobic and transphobic language has no place in our sport. Not on the field, not on the sideline, not in the group chat. If you hear it, say something. That's what being an ally looks like in practice: not a statement, but a standard you hold.
We want lacrosse in Victoria to grow. That only happens if people feel safe enough to show up.
