Melbourne Uni wins UniLax Intervarsity for 2026
The third annual Victorian Intervarsity Lacrosse Competition wrapped up on 18 May, and for the first time, Melbourne University took home the title.
Held across two weekends at the Melbourne Uni Hockey Pitch, this year's competition brought together seven university teams, the biggest field the event has seen. Melbourne Uni defeated Victoria University 13-10 in the grand final, ending RMIT's two-year run as champions.
57 students competed across the weekend, and for the first time, every team from the social UniLax competition made the step up to UniSport level. That included Swinburne, competing at intervarsity for the first time, and Deakin, who improved from last place in 2024 to reach the third-place game, where they were defeated by Monash.
A big thank you to UniSport for hosting and to UniLax for the work they put in behind the scenes to help make it happen.
