Last weekend held the remaining of the Grand Finals, finishing with State League and State League Reserves. The event was an incredible way to end the season for both competitions, with an amazing atmosphere from spectators. A huge thank you to Caulfield Lacrosse Club for hosting the finals showdowns of the 2025 field season.
The first game of the day kicked off with Williamstown versus Malvern in the State League Reserves. Williamstown held on strong throughout the entire game to defeat Malvern, 16-11. The win capped off their undefeated run through the season, crowning their season as premiers. It was an exciting end to the season, with strong performances across all teams.
To finish the day off, once again, Williamstown and Malvern faced off in the State League final. Williamstown started the game off strong, leading the game 8-4 at halftime. However, Malvern were not going to give up that easily, clawing their way back into the game goal by goal. With four minutes to go, Malvern found themselves on top 12-10, and were on track for an extraordinary comeback win. But Williamstown were not finished, scoring three goals to put them back in front and ultimately win the game. This finished off their undefeated run throughout the season, topping it as premiers. Helping his team to victory, Harry Gibson was presented as the MVP of the game, scoring two goals in the last quarter to get Williamstown over the line.
