SSV Yr 9-12 State Finals

Lacrosse Victoria held the Annual School Sport Victoria Lacrosse State Finals for the Year 9&10 and Year 11&12 students at Fawkner Park 4 Ground on Friday, 30 August. And it was one for the record books with the most schools and teams competing in an SSV State Finals yet! An even better, the standard of play was fantastic from the start whistle, and the teams improved with each game!

There were 35 teams from 16 schools. It was fantastic to see schools we worked with for years as well as some new schools to the competition. Congratulations to all of the teams from the following schools for an awesome day of lacrosse!

We also celebrated Wear It Purple Day at the Finals with teams, staff, and officials wearing a splash of purple to raise awareness of the international movement dedicated to supporting LGBTQIA+ youth who experience discrimination and mental health challenges and are at risk of suicide. It was great to see so many people get involved!

As with any State Finals, a winner must be named. So many of our finals went down to the wire, and it was great to see so many close games! Check out the final results below:

1^st Melbourne High School def. 2^nd Emmanuel College, St Paul's Campus, 11 – 10

Year 9&10 Girls’ Final:

1^st Mount St. Joseph Girls’ College def. 2^nd Patterson River Secondary College, 9 – 8

Year 11&12 All Gender Final:

1^st Williamstown High School def. 2^nd Melbourne High School, 13 – 10

Year 11&12 Girls’ Final:

1^st Williamstown High School def. 2^nd Genazzano FCJ College, 12 – 6
