Four Weeks, Four Champions: Sixes Lacrosse Grand Final Delivers Excitement!
The atmosphere was electric at Fearon Reserve on April 27th as the Lacrosse Victoria Sixes Tournament leads in a series of hard-fought grand finals, wrapping up four weeks of intense weekend competition. With two matches played each day throughout the month-long tournament, teams across senior and junior divisions battled through fast-paced sixes action to earn their spot in the finals.
In the Senior Women’s division, Footscray emerged victorious in a tight contest against Williamstown Women’s Lacrosse Club (WWLC), clinching the title with a final score of 8-6. Their disciplined play and strong defensive performance in the closing minutes sealed the win.
The Senior Men’s grand final was equally gripping, with Malvern edging out Williamstown in a high-scoring thriller, 13-11. Both teams exchanged goals in rapid succession, but Malvern’s sharp shooting and composure under pressure proved the difference in the final moments.
In the U18 Boys division, the combined forces of Malvern, MCC, and Caulfield outlasted a determined Footscray side, finishing with a 14-12 win. The match showcased the depth of young talent across clubs and set a high standard for future tournaments.
The U17 Girls grand final saw Williamstown put on a dominant display against Footscray, taking the title with a convincing 16-8 victory. Their quick transitions and relentless attack left little room for a Footscray comeback.
The tournament was a celebration of Victorian lacrosse, with players, coaches, and fans coming together to enjoy the fast-paced sixes format. The grand finals not only delivered excitement but also highlighted the strength and growing depth of lacrosse across all levels in the state.
