Lacrosse Victoria are saddened to hear the news of the passing of Clive Sheppard.

Clive began his lacrosse playing life in Western Australia before arriving in Victoria where he left an indelible impact on the sport.

Clive was heavily involved with coaching at a club level, notably with Glenroy lacrosse club before its eventual folding.

When Clive saw a need for a club in the inner north as his son Jake reached an age and an interest, Clive began a lacrosse program in Alphington which in 1994 became Moreland Lacrosse Club (now Brunswick).

As well as being on the coaching staff for four under 19 Australian teams; 1992, 1996, 1999 and 2012, Clive’s passion for the game and compassion for those in need helped shape what is now Brunswick Lacrosse Club into what it is. His acceptance and care for young men whom others wrote off made the club a bastion for those who needed the direction he gave.

His life in lacrosse and the impact he had cannot be summed up in his two silver medals and a bronze at the U19 World Championships, nor can it be summed up in the teams he has coached.

His legacy is what those he has mentored have become.
