Lacrosse Victoria earns Gold status in the Pride in Sport Index

Lacrosse Victoria has been awarded Gold status in the Pride in Sport Index for the second consecutive year, scoring 80 out of 100 in the independently administered benchmarking program that assesses how sporting organisations approach LGBTQ+ inclusion across their policies, training, community engagement and culture.

The award was presented at the Pride in Sport awards night, and there are now two trophies on the shelf.

The Pride in Sport Index is an initiative of the Australian Human Rights Commission and the Australian Sports Commission. At Gold level, LV sits alongside the AFL, Hockey Australia, Netball Queensland, NSW Rugby League, Surf Life Saving Australia, Surf Life Saving Queensland and Tennis NSW.

The driving force behind this achievement is our Development Officer and LGBTQ+ Ambassador Kristen Hutchison. If you've been around lacrosse in Victoria for any length of time, you already know Kristen. She has a gift for being everywhere at once, and she puts that energy into making lacrosse a sport where people can show up and just play. This Gold status is a direct reflection of that tireless work.

Lacrosse Victoria will be marking Pride Month this June, including our Pride Round on the 20th. More details to come.
