Lacrosse Together Cup

Under the bright, sun-soaked skies of Altona's PJ Lynch Reserve, the 2023 Lacrosse Together Cup unfolded as a spectacular showcase of fun and inclusivity. With 20 teams converging on the field, it was a day of thrilling, social lacrosse that welcomed participants from all walks of life.

The event featured over three hours of modified lacrosse, offering a platform to increase awareness of the LGBTQI+ community. Teams comprised a delightful mix of family and friends, university squads, and Lacrosse Victoria clubs, all coming together to celebrate the spirit of lacrosse and community.

The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as participants enjoyed face painting, indulged in delectable treats from food trucks, and engaged in friendly competition. It was a perfect storm of camaraderie and sportsmanship, culminating in four epic finals that would determine the champions of the 2023 Lacrosse Together Cup.

Here are the results:

Experienced Division: MCC Red clinched victory in a nail-biting match, defeating Brunswick Orange 15-14 in a golden goal showdown.

Intermediate: The Hunts showcased their skills and prevailed over Speak Valentina Speak with a final score of 18-13.

University Division: Yummy Yummy emerged as the victors, besting Joel's Jellies with a score of 14-10.

Family Division: In a closely contested battle, Brunswick Mavericks secured a 10-9 win over Footscray Together.

In addition to the thrilling on-field action, the 2023 Lacrosse Together Cup Spirit Award was bestowed upon Fruit Salad & Yummy Yummy. This honor recognizes individuals or teams that best embodied the event's inclusive and welcoming ethos, underscoring the importance of unity and acceptance.
