Celebrating LGBTQIA+ Inclusion - Lacrosse Together Cup

The Lacrosse Together Cup is an annual social round robin event designed to celebrate diversity and inclusivity in lacrosse and make a stand against LGBTQIA+ discrimination.

Lacrosse Victoria is thrilled to announce that the Lacrosse Together Cup will be held on Sunday, 20 October at PJ Lynch Reserve in Altona North from 10am – 2:30pm.

The Lacrosse Together Cup is an annual social, round-robin event designed to celebrate diversity and inclusivity in lacrosse and make a stand against Homophobia, Biphobia, Transphobia, and Intersex discrimination in our sport. In 2023, 200 participants competed across four divisions and helped raise awareness and funds to help support the inclusion of LGBTQIA+ people in sport. Lacrosse Victoria hope to make this year’s event even bigger and better!

Events like the Lacrosse Together Cup have the power to change hearts and minds. Education on LGBTQIA+ inclusion in sport can help break down barriers, smash stereotypes and make our community a more welcoming place. To assist in the spreading of these messages, Proud2Play will support the event by providing pre-event diversity and inclusion training to all volunteers and participants.

Christine Granger, CEO of Proud2Play, said, ‘Proud2Play is thrilled to support Lacrosse Victoria's 'Lacrosse Together Cup'. Our work over the past 3 years has led to incredible changes in policy and programming within Lacrosse Victoria, with the Lacrosse Together Cup being a strong show of visible support for the LGBTQI+ community. The success of last year's cup is a great example of how standing against discrimination and being visible allies can create a genuine sense of belonging. We hope this year's Cup can build on that.’

This year’s Lacrosse Together Cup will see participants, new and experienced, from across Victoria take part in the fun, social and inclusive event at PJ Lynch Reserve. The day will be filled with lots of activities for people of all ages including facepainting, a free Come & Try lacrosse session, fun outdoor games, music, food, and lots of lacrosse games. So, bring your family and friends down to PJ Lynch Reserve on Sunday, 20 October to join in the celebration!
