UniLax Pride Round

What a fantastic night at the 2024 UniLax Pride Round. Lacrosse Victoria was so excited to support UniLax in their 2nd Annual Pride Round. The night saw 10 teams compete across 3 fields with the University Teams decked out in rainbow and showcasing their Lacrosse Pride. Thanks to all the volunteers at UniLax and Melbourne University for helping to make this event such a success.

Before each match, the captains of the University teams read out the Lacrosse Pride Statement which was developed by the LV LGBTQIA+ Advisory Group. Lacrosse Victoria and UniLax aim to ensure the LGBTQIA+ community is safe, affirmed and welcomed in our lacrosse community. The statement also stressed that while we’re celebrating, it’s important to remember that there is zero tolerance for homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia, and that your allyship is not just needed on nights like these but every day.

After the game finished, the teams headed to The Clyde Hote for the Pride Cup Australia LGBTQIA+ information session. A HUGE thank you to Caitlin Bunker from Pride Cup, who facilitated a really informative and interactive session. On the night, the Best Dressed Team was awarded by Caitlin to the Melbourne University Blues Team! Check out some awesome pictures from the night below!
