LV Women's Sixes Olympic Cup Tournament delivers exciting day of competition and fun, showcasing the next Olympic version of the sport.
The Women's Sixes Olympic Cup Lacrosse Tournament, held on Sunday, 22 September at Newport Lacrosse Club, featured an intense competition among five senior teams, with Camberwell, Eltham, Footscray, Newport and Williamstown Women’s all vying for the championship title.
The tournament culminated in an exciting final between Williamstown Women’s and Footscray Lacrosse Club. Williamstown showcased their skill and determination, ultimately defeating Footscray with a score of 9 - 3. The fast-paced sixes format added to the excitement, as players demonstrated their agility and teamwork in this condensed version of the sport. Newport was able to overcome Camberwell to secure 3rd place, marking a successful end to a day filled with high-energy lacrosse action.
The curtain raiser to the Women’s Tournament was a match up between Newport and Williamstown Women’s Under 17 teams. The fast-paced match gave the girls an opportunity to play the newest version of the sport and test their skills against one another. It was a tightly fought game, with Newport coming back from a deficit but at the final whistle of the match it was WWLC that were victorious, winning 10 – 9.
