On Monday 29 April the LV Board appointed Fergus Stewart as the new Chair of Lacrosse Victoria.

After three years as Chair, Jessica Hay advised the Board that she would be stepping down to spend more time with her family as she prepares for the birth of her second child. Thankfully, Jess is not lost to the Board as she will continue as the Chair of the Communications and Marketing Advisory Group. On behalf of the LV community, we would like to thank Jess for her outstanding work as Chair.

Fergus has been a part of the lacrosse community since the late 50’s, having a decorated career as a player at club, national and international level. Additionally, he has utilised his knowledge and passion of the game in numerous coaching, committee and board roles. This included working on the VLA/LV Boards in the early 2000’s involving periods as Vice President and President. Together with Shelley Maher and John Harris, Fergus established the Victorian Lacrosse Foundation in 1999. Fergus joined the LV Board in 2021 to assist with the transfer of the Foundation into the LV structure.

“Given my recent appointment as Chair of Lacrosse Victoria my objective is to work hard to use the recently announced ‘Olympic’ opportunity to help propel lacrosse in Victoria into a position of strength innumbers and prestige”.

We wish Ferg the best of luck in his new position of Chair and thank him for his commitment and dedication to the betterment of Lacrosse in Victoria.
