2024 Lacrosse Together Cup a Great Success

A Community Celebration

The Lacrosse Together Cup celebrated the inclusiveness and unity within the sport, bringing together players of all ages and backgrounds. It emphasized teamwork, collaboration, and the core values of lacrosse, which have long fostered a sense of community within the sport. All gendered teams from the lacrosse and university community gathered not just to compete, but to build lasting connections with fellow enthusiasts.

The atmosphere was electric, family-friendly activities, ice-cream and coffee stalls, and a photo booth dotted the event, making it more than just a day of competition— it was a celebration of lacrosse culture and inclusion.

The Tournament

It was great to see 18 teams competing over the different divisions. We also had a record number of individuals playing this year, which is awesome to see.

The day saw lots of fun and enjoyment on the field, sprinkled with a bit of friendly competition, with players of all ages playing the Quick Stix version of lacrosse. With the ultimate winners of the day as follows:

Promoting Inclusivity

A key aspect of the Lacrosse Together Cup was its commitment to inclusivity. The event ensured participation across gender, age, and ability levels, providing a platform for all players the chance to experience playing the game of lacrosse. This inclusive philosophy resonated with the participants and attendees alike, creating a welcoming and open environment for everyone. The day was also a great chance for the community to come together and make a stand against LGBTQIA+ discrimination.

Closing Ceremony and Awards

As the day came to an end, the closing ceremony brought players and supporters together to celebrate the sport they love. Awards were presented to our division winners, as well as our lucky raffle prize winners. A big thank you to our main sponsor for the day in offer such amazing prizes for the raffle.

Lastly, but certainly no least was the announcement of the 2024 LV Lacrosse Together Cup Spirit Award which was awarded to Williamstown!

The 2024 Lacrosse Together Cup will undoubtedly be remembered as a highlight of the lacrosse calendar, a day where competition and unity went hand in hand, showcasing the best of the sport.

Looking Ahead

With its success, the Lacrosse Together Cup has laid the foundation for future events that will continue to promote inclusivity and the growth of lacrosse. Lacrosse Victoria, participants, and supporters are already looking forward to next year’s edition, where the spirit of lacrosse will once again bring people together.
