LV Awards Two New Life Memberships

Lacrosse Victoria is honoured and proud to award two Life Memberships this year. Sue Sofarnos OAM and Sue McSolvin OAM have two of the most storied and decorated lacrosse careers in Australian history.

Both will be recognised at the upcoming AGM at Caulfield Lacrosse Club on Monday 19 April. Sue McSolvin will be presented with her Life Membership at Caulfield while the late Sue Sofarnos will receive her Life Membership during the first central venue round on Sunday 16 May at Newport Ladies Lacrosse Club. 

Congratulations to both recipients on their Life Memberships to Lacrosse Victoria. Below you will find a list of their accomplishments on and off the field. 

Sue McSolvin OAM:

Australian Lacrosse Association Australian Women’s Team

  • Represented Australia at 6 World Cups as a player including Player of the Match in the Gold Medal game in 2005.
  • Won Gold Medal in 2005, Silver Medals in 2009, 2001 and 1997 and Bronze Medals in 2013 and 1993.
  • Represented Australia at the 2017 World Cup and World Games as Goalkeeper Coach.
  • Goalkeeper Coach for Australian U19 Girls team 2003 - present.

Lacrosse Victoria

  • Player Victorian Senior Women’s Team 1988 – 2017.
  • Coach Victorian Senior Women’s Team 2019.
  • Player Victorian U16 Girls team 1985 – 1987.
  • Coach Victorian U16 Girls team 1987, 1988 and 2001.

Caulfield Lacrosse Club

  • Life Membership from Caulfield Lacrosse Club in 2013.
  • Received the Coaches Award from Caulfield Lacrosse club in 1996.

Awards and Recognitions

  • Presented 2015 Order of Australia General Division.
  • Recipient of The John Wesley Patterson Award from Federation of International Lacrosse (now World Lacrosse) at the 2013 World Cup. This award is presented to a player who embodies the spirit of the game in the World Cup.
  • Certificate of Merit from the Australian Lacrosse Association in 2013.
