Following the 2019 Lacrosse Victoria AGM, a different Board member will be featured in the 2020 Lacrosse Victoria Board Meet Me Monday Series. These profiles will match faces with names as well as provide some background into our new and returning Board members. So far, we have profiled Meredith Hodson, Simon Atkins, Elena Theinschnack and Damian Raper, Ben Stone, Rebecca Chapman and Jess Symonds.
Our final profile of the series will be Interim Board Chair Theo Kwas. Theojoined the Board in April 2019. Jess' answers are in bold.
Name: Theo Kwas
How long have you been on the Board? Since April 2019
Role on the Board: Interim Board Chair
Sports Background: I grew up playing lacrosse and netball, but dropped netball towards the end of high school to be able to better focus on lacrosse.
Affiliated Club: Footscray
Everyday Job: I work in intelligence for Victoria Police.
Where are you Originally From? Melbourne born and raised!
Why did you run for a Board position? To be able to give back to the sport that has taken me all over the world and provided me with so many great memories and friendships.
Favourite Athlete and Sports Team? The only professional sport I follow closely is tennis. Rafael Nadal is my all time favourite!
If you could play any position on the field which one would you choose (even if you currently play)? I hope to keep playing midfield for as long as I can. Maybe once my running days are behind me, I'll give goalie a crack.
What do you enjoy most about lacrosse and/or the lacrosse community? The lifelong friendships that are formed across all clubs and age groups.
Thank you to the Board for participating in this series. We hope you enjoyed some insight into our Board and their dedication to the lacrosse.
