Lacrosse Victoria and U18 Victorian Head Coaches Chris Marsh and Theadora Kwas are pleased to announce the assistant coaches for the 2020 Victorian U18 Boys and Girls Teams.

On the Girls side, Theadora Kwas is in her first year as Head Coach. The former University of Maryland star has named 2 assistant coaches for the 2020 team. She will be joined on the sideline by Footscray's Sarah Smith and Newport's Elise Hussey.

Elise returns to the U18 sideline after being an assistant on Cliff Jennings' 2019 staff. She will direct this U18 group as an Offiensive Coordinator. Kwas went on to add, "Elise Hussey is an incredible attacker who knows the ins and outs of the game as well as anyone." As a player, "she has practically been playing the game since she was born and with her slick moves and snipe of a shot, is an enormous threat to any team." Theo knows that Elise will bring this same playing success to the sideline as a coach.

Sarah Smith joins the staff coming off of a U15 tournament championship after guiding the Fire to the tournament title. Kwas was excited about adding Smith to the staff as "she is a highly regarded coach, recently adding an impressive U15 campaign to her resume, that culminated in a National Championship win. Sarah has the ability to contribute as a coach all over the field, but in particular, will coordinate the defence for the 2020 team." Like Kwas and Hussey, Smith is also a dynamic two-way player who can score goals just as easily as she can win a draw or defend 1 on 1.

Kwas added, "I am thrilled to be working with such incredible people and look forward to a fun and successful year with this group."

On the Boys side, Chris Marsh is in his 2nd year of his appointment and 4th on the U18 staff. After spending 2 years as the Defensive Coordinator Marsh has Darren Nicholas join him again. Nicholas is no stranger to the U18 sideline after spending the last 3 years as a U18 assistant with Marsh last year and with Clinton Lander before that.  From Marsh, "Darren returns for his fourth year as assistant coach and offence co-ordinator. Darren brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team from coaching and competing at the elite level in Australian lacrosse."

Marsh and Nicholas are looking to make it 4 National Championships in a row for Victoria which would be the longest streak since Victoria won 5 in a row from 1978-83.

The U18 National Championships will be held here in Melbourne over Easter weekend in April 2020. For more information stay tuned to the Lacrosse Victoria social channels!
