2019 Victorian Teams Post Practice
2019 Victorian Teams Post Practice

The 2019 Victorian Under 18 Boys and Girls teams are in Perth this Easter weekend in seach of another Australian U18 National Championship.

The Victorian Girls arrived in Perth on Tuesday afternoon with an extra day to get settled. Coach Cliff Jennings felt that by arriving a day earlier the girls could unpack and unwind after a long travel day.

The extra day also allows the team to get an extra training session in so they can look to get onto the field game 1 on Thursday rested and relaxed.

The Victorian Boys left Wednesday but the coaches expect to get the team active upon arrival
into Perth. Coach Chris Marsh said they plan to get the boys into the water to get the boys moving after instructing them to stay stretched and hydrated on the cross-country flight.

In the lead up to the tourament, both teams have been training hard for months. Both coaches said the team has come together well and both have a good mix of new andreturning talent. Coach Jennings remarked at how he has seen an even greater passion for the game develop in some of his players. He has also been presented with a challenge of protecting the girls who will represent Australia at the Under-19 Women's World Championships later on this year. The coaching staff changed the lead up time to a longer slower process to allow the girls to stay fresh and engaged.

Both coaches are confident in their respective teams to be successful in Perth. The Victorian community is rallying behind both squads in hopes that the girls can make it Back-to-Back titles while the Boys are looking for a 3-Peat.

Good luck to both teams! For those who cannot make it the Australian Lacrosse Network is planning to live-stream some of the games.
