Kendrea Kendall

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kendrea Kendall. Kendrea, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, after battling ill health over the past few months.

Kendrea Kendall is a name well known to many in lacrosse circles, both in Victoria and Australia. Over the past 45 plus years, she has represented our sport with great pride and distinction.

Kendrea’s achievements and accolades in lacrosse are almost unrivalled. She has reached the pinnacle as a player, a coach/selector, an administrator and a club person.

From an early age, Kendrea began playing at the Footscray Lacrosse Club. After several successful years playing out in the West, she helped establish the Montmorency Women’s Lacrosse Club. After a few years, Montmorency merged with Eltham,
which kick started the Women’s arm of the Eltham Lacrosse Club.

From that time until now, Kendrea has been a stalwart of Women’s lacrosse at Eltham and more broadly in Victoria. Some of Kendrea’s most significant achievements and accolades are:

Life Member Women’s Lacrosse Association (VWLA) – 1985
Life Member Eltham Lacrosse Club – 1989
Lacrosse Victoria Nell Rawlins Award recipient (for outstanding achievement on and off the field) – 1976 & 1984. Remains one of only two dual winners.

Kendrea's natural kindness and mentoring attributes attracted and retained many of our sports followers and motivated them to become our current leaders. Her positive advice and willing ear was always available when sought by all levels of our community.

As a mark of respect to Kendrea and the Kendall family and in recognition of her enormous contribution to our sport, Lacrosse Victoria will be naming both the Men’s State League Round 1 (April 6) and Women’s Round 1 (April 28), the ‘Kendrea Kendall Memorial Round’ in her honour.

Lacrosse Victoria would like to extend their deepest sympathies to Kendrea’s husband Neil, sons Luke, Brad, Wayde, the Kendall family and the Eltham Lacrosse Club.

Our thoughts are with you all.

Vale Kendrea Kendall (1949 – 2019)
