A Good Time Had by All!
2014 U11 Lightning Carnival
The 2014 season for our U11 boys and girls finished bathed in sunshine on Saturday with a wonderful showcase of junior lacrosse. All games provided an opportunity for our next generation of lacrosse stars to show the skills they have developed over the season.
18 teams took part, playing in 3 divisions across five side-by-side grounds at Dorothy Laver Reserve. There was no let-up, as each team played 5 games in a round-robin format against the other teams in their division, with modified rules making for exciting lacrosse and some slick skills. When the dust was settled the winners in all divisions came down to the results of the final games. Congratulations to the 2014 Lightning Carnival pennant winners for each division:
Crocodiles: Surrey Park White
While Caufield and Surrey defeated all comers in their divisions, the Kangaroos Division was only won on percentage, with the parsimonious defensive effort by Newport (the first time a Womens club has entered a team) conceding only 4 goals over 5 games winning out over Footscray's high-scoring 21 goals.
Lacrosse Victoria President, Tim Fry, presented the winners pennants, thanked the players, their parents and clubs for their support through the season. As well as the winners pennants, Lacrosse Victoria supplied wristbands and stickers for all participants, and also ran a merchandise stall through the morning.
Thanks to Camberwell Lacrosse Club for hosting the event, for the fourth successive year, and to Faye Lukas for taking photos all around the grounds through the morning.
It was great to see teams lined up behind their club flags for the Closing Ceremony.
A link will be posted here to the game scores on SportingPulse as soon as they are available there.

A good time was had by all, and we hope to do it all again next year!
