Big News for Lacrosse in Hume City Council
Australian Representatives support new Hume Facility
Kristen Stone with a future Lacrosse star from Craigieburn
Lacrosse Victoria is very pleased to announce that we will be a key stakeholder in a new state of the art regional sporting and recreation facility in Craigieburn. Yesterday morning Tim Fry, the LV President, attended the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Hume City Council, Stockland, Hockey Victoria and Lacrosse Victoria at the future site of the new facility.
Mayor, Cr Casey Nunn attended the event and welcomed the distinguished guests. She said, “Hume City Council is proud to be involved in the development of yet another state of the art regional sporting and recreational facility in Hume. A facility of this nature may give a young person in Hume the opportunity to become a champion Hockey or Lacrosse player, hopefully going on to represent Australia at the Olympics or World Cup.”
Some of the future stars of the area were able to learn from the best. Several of our Australian representatives from the Men’s and Women’s Teams ran a Quick Stix Lacrosse clinic for students from Our Lady’s Primary School and for local residents.
The Hume Hockey Centre and Newbury Park will be the first Hockey and Lacrosse facility to exist within Hume City Council. Included in the redevelopment will be:
- 2 x floodlit synthetic pitches
- A sports pavilion
- A Community Hub
- A fully outfitted recreation/play area
The construction of the first pitch will begin later this year with a completion date set for the end of 2015. For more information about the facility, click on the Hume City Council Master Plan.
