Footscray have opened the Down Under Cup (DUC) in style. After a
long day of games, it was time for well known Australian actor William
McInnes to MC the official opening of the event.
Attending the opening, Paul Mollison (President Footscray
Lacrosse Club), Tim Fry (President Lacrosse Victoria), Mike
Slattery (President Australian Lacrosse Association), Mayor John Cumings (Maribyrnong City Council)
and Arden Joseph (Director Community Wellbeing,
Maribyrnong City Council).
After a small hiccup from Mr William McInnes referring to Mr Tim
Fry as 'Lambs Fry' and not 'Stir Fry'!
The opening saw a fantastic speech
from Mayor John Cummings who formally welcomed all athletes to the
DUC and the Ciy of Maribyrnong.
Interestingly, we also learnt that Mayor John Cummings is a
former lacrosse player himself, having played for the former
Footscray Tech' School. We look forward to seeing back out
playing for Footscray one day in Div' 3.
