After a walkover and a second round bye, Bendigo finally got to
start their season at Camberwell on Saturday.
With new coach Joel Evans (Sth. Aust.) and Mark Reader
(Camberwell ) boosting the regulars from last year, an improvement
on last years first up effort was expected. It took till half time
to get the team settled into their new style of play and with Leigh
Jordan, Corey Martin and James Dawson, all new to the game, things
improved in the second half, finishing with a promising , 3 goal
last quarter.
Great to see the President, Darren Sexton shaping up in goals,
although he was champing at the bit to go forward and cause some
damage!
All in all it was great to see Bendigo once again traveling to
Melbourne, it is hoped the City clubs support our country cousins
when their turn comes to travel up country. Camberwell proved to
experienced and run out 21-4 winners -- bring on Malvern next
week.
