The U17 Girls Championships were held over the week of 17th. to
23rd. April at the Eltham Lacrosse Club. The Eltham Lacrosse
Club should be congratulated for hosting a fabulous week of
lacrosse.
On arrival the fog sat over the ground on a crisp and cold morning
with tall white pointed tents that look like a game of Quidditch
(Harry Potter style). The Eltham volunteers were amazing,
nothing was too much trouble and the grounds and change facilities
were immaculate (even down to "pink carnations" in the urinal) of
the "girls changing room"! The best potatoes and burgers in
town were part of the extensive menu available at the ground each
day.
The U17 girls were undefeated and played a hard fought game based
on full field pressure. These tactics saw the girl's first
game against South Australia score, Victoria 19, South Australia
6. Next the Vic's played WA scoring 16 Vic, WA - 8.
Second game against SA Vic's 13 defeating SA - 4. Our second
game against WA saw Vic's win 16, WA - 5. The final found us
playing SA on the 23rd. April, the final result - Victoria, was
victorious! - Vic's - 14,
SA - 5.
The final results did not reflect the quality of lacrosse played
throughout the week; all girls from all States played hard and fast
Lacrosse and should be congratulated.
It was a fantastic week for Victorian lacrosse taking out all four
finals; both boys and girls were VICTORIOUS!!!
