Last Wednesday, Swinburne’s Vice Chancellor Linda Kristjanson presented the Swinburne University Lacrosse Club with the 2016 Sports Club of the Year (<50 members) Award and the Club Initiative Award.

After an absence of over 40 years, Lacrosse returned to the Swinburne University of Technology a year ago.  Since then SULC has fielded two teams in the ULL each semester and competed in the 2015 & 2016 Australian University Lacrosse Championships, winning the 2016 tournament.

SULC was awarded the Club Initiative Award for recruiting a wide demographic range of members.  SULC’s membership includes Post-graduate students Under- graduate students and staff.  SULC has recruited many international and exchange students, most from countries that don’t traditionally play Lacrosse.  Some have taken sticks back with them to Malaysia, another is joining the Barcelona Bandits Lacrosse club.

We’d love to hear from any students starting at Swinburne next year, or any alumni. [email rshobbrook@swin.edu.au]
