Sporting Act of the Month Award - July

Lacrosse Victoria is pleased to announce John Knox of the Surrey Park Lacrosse Club as the winner of the Sporting Act of the Month Award (July).

John was nominated by the Altona Lacrosse Club following their Division 2 match against Surrey Park on July 16.

Altona only managed to field 11 players and unfortunately lost a few players to injury early in the match. John noticed this and, as captain of the Surrey Park Division 2 team, sent two of his teammates over to play with Altona for the remainder of the game.

While this behaviour is replicated across our grounds by many of our members it is often overlooked. Therefore it gives Lacrosse Victoria great pleasure to recognise John for his efforts.

John will receive a $50 award from Lacrosse Victoria and is now shortlisted for the $200 Sporting Act of the Year Award, which will be presented at the Lacrosse Victoria Presentation Night later this year.

Please join us in congratulating John on his outstanding contribution to sportsmanship and Lacrosse.

We also know these are not isolated incidents and we encourage all clubs and individuals to send through nominations to when they see similar acts so we can reward and recognise those involved and highlight all that is good about the great game of lacrosse.
