Dates: Wednesday 20th January, Wednesday 27th January & Thursday 4th February

Time: 6:00pm to 7:30pm

Venue: Altona Lacrosse Club, PJ Lynch Reserve, Mason Street Altona

The Altona Lacrosse Club encourages anyone interested in learning the sport of lacrosse to attend. Any new participants will be introduced to our great game in a relaxed and fun atmosphere and learn the basics of the techniques and skills necessary to become a star player.

At the end of the 3 sessions, players will have been introduced to:

• How to appropriately prepare for games and training   through a structured, lacrosse specific, dynamic warm up   and cool down.

• Drills which assist in the development of footwork,   coordination, speed and agility.

• The correct techniques for catching, throwing, cradling and   groundballs.

• Position specific drills for improving forward play, midfield   play and defence – including goalkeeping and faceoff.

• A variety of dodges and shown when to use them.

• Tactical considerations like the importance of   communication, player positioning and movement in relation   to the location of the ball.

• Our STEPS motto (Sacrifice, Teamwork, Encouragement,   Persistence, Skill).

All sessions will be overseen by experienced Altona Lacrosse Club players and coaches. Participants will have the opportunity to attain Certificates of Excellence in a variety of the skills and drills covered. Please dress in appropriate training clothing and bring your lacrosse equipment if you have it.

New players will be catered for. Also bring a drink bottle. We hope to have as many players – and new players attend as possible.
