Haudenosaunee Withdraw from U19 Women's World Championship

(FIL Press Release) The Federation of International Lacrosse advises its members that the Haudenosaunee team has withdrawn from the FIL Rathbones Women’s U19 Lacrosse World Championship, scheduled from 23rd July to 1st August, at the University of Edinburgh Playing Fields at Peffermill.

The Haudenosaunee Squad sought to travel with their Haudenosaunee passports. The United Kingdom government does not recognise the Iroquois Confederacy. Used in isolation, without any other supporting passport, the Haudenosaunee passport would not be recognised by the United Kingdom as a valid travel document and, as such, entry to the United Kingdom would not be granted.

The Haudenosaunee will be a sad omission from the event. Organisers have plans in place for such an eventuality and so this decision will not detract unduly from the spectacle of world-class lacrosse taking place in Edinburgh.
