Day 1:

Today the Under 15 teams, Fire and Ice, departed Melbourne. From Adelaide Airport we arrived at Adelaide Shores Resort and watched the AFL Grand Final together. We had a late lunch and then went down to the beach for a light session and a cold swim. At about 6:30 we went down to Glenelg Lacrosse Club for a welcome BBQ.

Day 2:

All the teams participating in the tournament were introduced at the opening ceremony. Then we played our first game against Ice. We played a fantastic game, it was incredibly hot and humid making ball possession and team work a vital part of our game. The half time score was an even 4 for 4. After another solid seconda half, our hard work paid off with the final scores being 8 - 10. MVP for the day was Jess Pham.

Day 3:

We went out hungry for another win today against Red Lightning (SA). We were able to have a half time score of 2 – 6. By dominating the second half and having successful centre and winning groundballs, we were able to maintain possession and score goals. The final score was 14 – 4.  MVP for the day was Charlotte Gemmell.

Day 4:

Tuesday the 1st of October. We had an early match against Hurricanes.  It was going to be a tough game as we wanted to continue our winning streak for be in a great position for finals. We were able to have a fantastic game as we worked incredibly well as a team: We talked lots in defense, we won center positions, and we made controlled passes down the field. The final score was 4-20. MVP for the day was Olivia Basile

Day 5:

Wednesday the 2nd of October. Today Fire had a game against Flames from Western Australia. We all felt good going into this game, hoping to continue the standard of playing that we have prided ourselves on all week. We had an excellent game, playing solid body defense and dominating center position, resulting in majority of our team being able to score. The final score was 20-0 enabling us a guaranteed spot in finals. MVP was Elisha Hodges.

Day 6:

It was the semi finals and we were once again up against Ice. The turn out of this game would decide who would be playing in the grand final and who would be playing for 3rd on Saturday. It was a hard game as both teams were very evenly matched. The half-time score was 6-6 before Ice managed to pull out in front in the last 10 minutes of the game. It was disappointing losing to Ice, the final score being 10-12. MVP of the day was Steph Kelly.

Day 7:

Today was a Rest Day for all the teams. Fire and Ice had an easy and fun day of going to the movies where we watched grownups 2, a game of tenpin bowling and some retail therapy! When we arrived back at the resort, we got dressed up into our costumes and headed down to the local yacht club for a relaxing dinner.

Day 8:

Our game was at 11:30 against Red Lightning (SA). We were both fighting it out for the position of 3rd place. Red Lightning had improved since the last time we played them, with the winner of the center draws always changing; we were kept on our toes all game. Both teams fought hard, the final score going in our favor 11-10. MVP was Jess Pham. At around 6:00 that night, we all went to a place called the Beach House for the night. It was awesome! All the teams in the tournament were there to have a great time, using the many arcade games and riding the waterslides.

Day 9:

Today we had an early morning heading to the airport for an 11:40 flight back to Melbourne. It was a great experience and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. We would like to say thanks to our amazing managers Karen Hodges and Kerri Gemmell, who worked so hard before and during the tournament. Also to our head coach Colleen Hunter, supporting us on the sideline every game, Hayley Carlson and Danielle Lane our coaches who we have learnt so much from over such a short period of time. We could not have asked for a better group of people to play with and be coached by.
