Position Summary

Lacrosse Victoria is committed to the on-going promotion and development of lacrosse as a strong and inclusive sporting option for women. The new Lacrosse Victoria Strategic Plan identifies proud and passionate leadership as integral to the on-going growth of the sport in Victoria. The position of Women's Lacrosse Coach Eastern League is part of this vision. The Eastern League team will be a combined team consisting of players from clubs in the Eastern suburbs and will provide the opportunity for selected players to play in the highest level of domestic competition in Victoria, State League. The clubs concerned include; Caulfield, Chadstone, Malvern, Surrey Park, MCC, Camberwell, Eltham, Melbourne University and Altona. The Women's coach will be responsible for player development, skills training, performance monitoring, the planning and implementation of training sessions and liaising with clubs and the Board as required. This is a voluntary position which will be reviewed in 12 months.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will:

• Possess the appropriate character to serve as a mentor; demonstrate the ability to teach the game and skills of lacrosse; demonstrate the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and integrity.

• Have experience playing lacrosse and/or coaching at school or club level.

• Have extensive knowledge of and experience in developing fundamental lacrosse skills and techniques with players at various skill levels.

• Possess strong organizational, and game planning skills; development of player skills, knowledge, experience, and confidence to execute those game plans/strategies.

• Effectively motivate and develop both the new and experienced player; have an enthusiastic, positive attitude and a passion for developing young athletes.

• Have the interpersonal skills required to serve as a representative of Lacrosse Victoria and interact with the public, officials, parents and staff and to communicate with board members.

• Be familiar with and abide by the Lacrosse Victoria Playing Rules 2012 and the ALA By-laws and contribute to the development of an Eastern League code of conduct.

Qualifications (desirable but not mandatory)

• Level 1 ALA coaching qualifications.

• A current Working With Children Check (if relevant).
